Help Claudette Fight Cancer and Avoid Homelessness
Claudette and her daughter were recently approached at a store by someone asking for help buying baby food. Without hesitation, they offered to pay, communicating through sign language.
To recognize their kindness, they were surprised with $500. Both immediately began to cry and shared the painful reality they have been facing.
Claudette is battling esophageal cancer and has lost her ability to speak. Her medical bills have continued to pile up, and the family has now received an eviction notice. Claudette and her daughter are terrified that they could soon become homeless.
They also do not have a car. Earlier, Claudette took an Uber from the hospital, but the driver accidentally dropped her off five miles away from where she needed to be.
Unable to speak, without a vehicle, and with no easy way to explain what had happened, Claudette was left stranded during an already incredibly difficult season of her life.
Yet after everything they are facing, when a stranger asked for help buying baby food, their first response was still to give. They showed kindness at a moment when they desperately needed kindness themselves.
Uplift Foundation is bringing our community together so Claudette and her daughter do not have to face cancer, displacement, and uncertainty alone.
